A stress free weekend...

After finally finishing my practicum (I thought) and turning it in on Friday to my advisor for review before I took it to the printer, I decided that Saturday was going to be a "free day". No cleaning, no school (I still have that pesky presentation on Thursday), no laundry, no cooking......

No worries.

Sydney went to a birthday party and Olivia and I went out to run errands.

That's when I got a phone call from Brian that he had turned on the light in garage ceiling and was bombarded with these....

Yup, you guessed it.

CARPENTER ANTS.

I freaked out because my parents have had a problem with carpenter ants for, oh I don't know, 10 years or so?????

This is what they do...

I instructed my husband to call an exterminator NOW because this was not something we should try to take care of on our own (a la Hopkins' next door) and that I wanted a professional in there ASAP to take care of this so I wasn't still trying to control a bunch of ants that were slowly destroying my house for the next 10 years.

There are many instances where it is completely worth the money to pay a professional.

This is one of those times.

The exterminator was out this morning at 7:00 am (Not bad, huh? Less than 48 hours from the call and that includes a Sunday!) and soaked our entire house on the outside, sprayed extensively inside, and shot a bunch of ant death spray into the area between the garage ceiling and family room floor.

He was happy that we called right away, and thinks that we MAY have caught it in time before they spread throughout the house. But, you never know.

My house is aways open to guests, we have plenty of room, but only if you don't overstay your welcome and you know, burrow a bunch of tunnels in the wood.

The ants need to be evicted.

Did you get a big circus tent over your house, or is that just an L.A. thing for termites?
